Rain far north-east, and later south-west

Good morning,

Low pressure is centred over the North Sea, moving very slowly toward Scandinavia and filling gradually. Gales in the north-east will ease. An occluded front brings rain or showers to north-east Scotland and the Northern Isles.

A brief ridge of high pressure builds acoss Britain, bringing a fair day to many places. Broken cloud and sunshine, but weakening as high cloud builds from the south-west later.

Another low moving in from the Atlantic pushes fronts into Ireland and the south-west of Britain by afternoon and evening, where southerly winds will freshen, and rain develops, later setting in and turning heavy, especially Wales.

Today's top temperatures will be 17 to 20C in central & southern Britain, but fresher at 12 to 15C in the north, coolest northern Scotland.
