Morning Call - January 17, 2018
Cold, wintry showers
Severe gales tonight

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 17th January 2018
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Cold with wintry showers in the north and west, severe gales and rain overnight

Good morning,

A windy morning across the country and feeling cold again too. There will be further wintry showers to the north and west with some white-out conditions as heavier showers pass into Scotland. Less showers east and south where it should be mainly dry.

The showers should start to ease late morning and into this afternoon across Scotland, although still some wintry ones north and west. Further scattered showers ver western coasts and hills, but drier in central, eastern and southern areas.

A significant change occurs in Ireland later this afternoon bringing severe gales and heavy periods of rain in from the Atlantic. These gales and rain spreading east tonight.
