A rain band heads north, showers to south, snow over Scottish Hills tonight

Good morning,

Cloud and rain through Northern Ireland, northern England, the Midlands, east Anglia and southeast England this morning. To the west and south of this it is drier but rather cloudy7. Showers then develop through this morning and afternoon ijn this area and some of these could be heavy.

The rain band heads slowly north and east into this afternoon and so after a dry morning the far northeast of England and southern and eastern Scotland become wetter. The rain turns to snow over the high ground of Scotland. Northern Scotland tending to stay dry. Becoming windy too in the north and east and this makes it feel increasingly chilly.

More snow to come tonight over the Grampians with some significant accumulations here. The risk of sleet and wet snow at low levels in eastern Scotland too. Showery bursts of ran in Wales, central and southern England as well as Ireland, this heading north.
