Rain, sleet and snow passing east, becoming drier in the west

Good morning,

A front is making it's way steadily eastwards this morning, so you will need to be wrapping up and have a brolly to hand. Winds may be to gale force in the south and east too at first, although those winds ease in the west. The front is still fairly strong and is producing some heavy periods of rain, sleet and snow in the west of the UK. There could be some accumulations in the coming hours, especially over Wales, northern England and Scotland where there will be blizzards in the hills. It's drier in the east of England, and drier weather is arriving in Ireland too. Feeling cold for all.

That rain, sleet and snow takes a journey eastwards into the afternoon. It's a slow moving feature which, although weakening, may still have enough punch left in it to bring some disruption due to snow in parts of the Midlands, southern England, northern England and eastern Scotland. All the time drier and brighter weather arrives in the west, but it will be remaining cold for us all.

That rain, sleet and snow then clear east tonight to leave a few wintry showers on western coasts and hills. For most it will be dry and clear with icy roads and pavements developing.
