Morning Call - December 08, 2017
The chill begins
Showers, winter sunshine

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 8th December 2017
Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Frequent snow or hail north & west

Good morning,

Low pressure is focused over Scandinavia and a bitterly cold north-westerly wind affects the British Isles today.

Bands of heavy wintry showers will move inland from coasts in the north & west, with locally very frequent snow and hail. Sudden squally bursts, and a risk of isolated thunder.

North Wales, north-west England and the West Midlands are prone to local travel disruption due to snow and ice, especially over higher routes.

Northern and western regions of Scotland and Ireland will also see frequent snow, giving blizzard conditions over the mountains.

Bright sunshine and very clear air away from showers. Central, eastern and southern regions should stay mainly dry.

Today's top temperatures will be just 1 to 4C, but will feel sub-zero in the wind.

Have a great day.
Garry
