Morning Call - May 17, 2017
Thundery rain
Risk surface flooding

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 17th May 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Heavy and thundery rain in much of England, drier in the north and west

Good morning,

If you are in many parts of England today you are going to need to take some wet weather clothes to work with you! An area of heavy and thundery rain will be extending north through southern England, the Midlands and into northeast England during today. The far east of East Anglia and southeast England may escape the rain until late afternoon and evening. Localised flooding is possible because of the amount of rain which is expected to fall.

Much better conditions over Scotland, northwest England, western Wales and most of Ireland. Some sunny spells here, the best in the east of Scotland. Showers in Ireland and western Scotland, an odd one of them heavy.

Overnight it becomes dry with clearer spells. Showers affecting western Scotland and Ireland during the night.
