Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Isolated thunderstorms central areas later

Good morning,

A hot and humid southerly air flow influences the British Isles today, with high pressure to the east and low pressure to the north-west.

Sunshine for central & southern Britain, rather hazy at times, and generally cloudy toward the west & north, and quite murky near western coasts. Light southerly winds.

Areas of thundery rain for Scotland, Northern Ireland & northern England. Isolated thunderstorms breaking out in central areas later. Into the night, thunderstorms are likely to develop more widely from the south-west.

Today's top temperatures reaching 32C or locally higher in south-east England, widely 26 to 29C in central areas, but nearer 21 to 24C in the west & north, and cooler where rain lingers in Scotland.

Have a great day.
