Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Wet and windy west, although the rain fading as it moves east and north through the day

Good morning,

Turning more unsettled today as low pressure takes control. This is bringing rain and stronger winds through Ireland, Wales and western England at first this morning. More northern and eastern areas are likely to be starting the day fair with sunny spells.

The rain is likely to turn patchier as it heads east and northwards into the afternoon, although still a few moderate bursts affecting southern coasts of England and western coasts iof Scotland. The rain arrives in eastern England this evening although only being patchy.

Drier, wind weather follows to the west with sunny spells, although heavy showers then spread to Ireland this evening. Winds may reach gale force in the west.
