Matt: Fine weather continues across much of Scotland, N England and E England after the cold start with sunny spells present this morning. Heavy rain and showers now developing across SW England and Wales and these becoming more widespread across England and Wales in the coming hours.

Matt: It's a wet start to Wednesday, especially in the south with some heavy rain in places, particularly south of the M4 corridor. Drier further north and west, but with scattered showers and certainly feeling rather chilly out there to this morning.

Matt: Good morning. A distinctly wintry morning for many this morning with overnight snow continuing across many areas, especially across Wales and SW England, along with parts of N England and E Scotland. Even where there is no snow it is a very cold start with a widespread harsh frost and ice.
