Tuesday
Areas of rain in north-east Scotland and also south-east England early in the day will clear. Showers spread from the west across northern Britain & Ireland, giving local downpours and possible thunder over the Highlands, focused on eastern Scotland by afternoon. Central & southern Britain stay largely dry with rare showers, and sunshine breaking through for many. A westerly breeze. Highs 16 to 19C north & west, 21 to 23C south & east.


Tuesday night
Showers becoming confined to coastal districts in the far north-west overnight. Dry with clear skies for most places as pressure builds from the west. Local mist patches forming in low lying areas, but will clear soon after dawn. Freshening winds in the west will bring rain to western Ireland before dawn. Temperatures 9 to 12C, locally 6 to 8C or below in rural areas in the north & west of Britain.


Wednesday
High pressure to the south-east brings a fair day for much of Britain, with good spells of sunshine. Turning hazy from the west as high cloud builds ahead of incoming fronts - these bring persistent rain to Ireland. Patchy spreads onto western coasts of Britain through the day, but setting in for south-west Scotland, then into the night becoming more widespread. Southerly winds strengthening. Highs 17 to 19C west, 21 to 24C east.


Thursday
Low pressure focused to the north-west of the British Isles produces unsettled weather once again by the end of the week. A spell of heavy rain from overnight is expected to clear eastwards early in the day, followed by a mix of sunny spells and heavy showers. Some frequent downpours are possible in the north & west, becoming more widespread elsewhere by the afternoon and evening. Gusty winds. Highs 16 to 23C, warmest east.
