Northern drizzle
Fresher from west

Thursday
A band of cloud extending from Scotland, through northern England, Wales, the Midlands and southwest England this morning. There will be some patchy rain and drizzle affecting western coasts and hills, although as this area of cloud and patchy rain spreads east the rain becomes ever more infrequent. Showers follow to western Scotland and the north of Ireland this afternoon with the westerly wind picking up here too. Staying dry in eastern and southern England during this afternoon with the cloud breaking and sunny spells developing. Fresher air arriving from the west. Highs at 17C in the north and west but a warm 24C in the southeast.

Thursday Night
Breezy with further showers affecting western Scotland and northwest England tonight. Eastern parts of Scotland and northeast England should be dry with clearer skies here. Cloudier skies in Ireland with drizzle in the west. Drier over central and southern England as well as Wales with some clearer skies here too. Lows at 7 to 11C.

Friday
A weak ridge of high pressure builds through the country on Friday. A warm front brings cloud and drizzle through Ireland and into the west of Scotland. Some breaks in the cloud across eastern Scotland with some bright spells here. Plenty of cloud again in western England and western parts of Wales. More eastern, central and southern areas of England will be dry with sunny spells here. Temperatures at 17 to 22C.

Saturday
High pressure building over the south of the country on Saturday with a ridge extending northwards. This brings a fair day with plenty of sunshine for much of the country. Cloudier skies at times in western Scotland and western Ireland and there is a risk of some rain arriving in northwest Scotland later. Highs at a very warm 28C in southern England, 16C in the far northwest of Scotland.
