Fog and murk
Locally very mild

Tuesday
High pressure toward the south. Extensive low-level fog in central & south-east England, which may persist most of the day in some areas where winds are light, keeping things cool. Murky around western coasts and hills, with banks of low cloud and local patchy drizzle. A strong south to southwest wind in the far west & north-west. Brightest to the lee of high ground in the north-east, and it may reach 13C locally in north-east Scotland. Otherwise, highs 7 to 10C.

Tuesday night
Fog may reform or thicken again into the evening for central and southern regions. Low cloud and hill fog will affect west & north-western areas, with some drizzle possible. Cloud breaks toward the east & north-east. Dropping to 1 or 2C in some areas of the east and south, but much milder in the north & west, some places staying at 8 to 10C with brisk southwesterly wind. Locally cooler in northern Scotland with a local frost.

Wednesday
A slack westerly flow with high pressure to the south. Fronts trailing in from the Atlantic will bring outbreaks of rain or drizzle, mostly over the hills of north-west England, south-west Scotland and Northern Ireland. Drizzly and damp for west Wales & south-west England, with extensive low cloud. Largely dry for the Midlands, south & east, perhaps a little weak sun. Fairly light winds. Mild in the south, a little cooler north, highs 8 to 12C.

Thursday
Pressure will be generally high. A weak front lies across central regions, bringing cloudy skies and patchy rain or drizzle, most persistent over western hills of Wales, perhaps north-west England. Murky in the west & south-west with widespread hill fog. Brighter toward the north of Britain. A few showers will affect northern Scotland, wintry over the mountains. Winds fairly light. Mild in the south, cooler north, highs 6 to 11C.
