Rain spreads east
Windier for all

Wednesday
A wet and windy start to the day across Ireland and much of the west of the UK. Scotland and much of eastern England will be dry with sunny spells at first this morning. Cloud and outbreaks of rain spread eastwards, although tends to turn more patchy in the Midlands and eastern England as it does so, although some moderate bursts continue in southern England as western Scotland. Becoming windier for all. Staying dry in the far north and northeast of Scotland until this evening although the rain will only be patchy when it arrives. Brighter weather arrives in Ireland in the morning, then into western Wales and the far west of England later. Highs at 17 to 22C.

Wednesday Night
Rain clears northern Scotland later in the evening. There could be some heavy and squally rain across East Anglia and southeast England until the early hours, but this should also clear eastwards in the early hours. Windy for all with heavy showers across Ireland. These showers move into northern England and Wales as well as Scotland during the night, some of them turning thundery at times. Lows at 9 to 12C.

Thursday
Low pressure will be centred over Scotland on Thursday. This brings a windy and showery day, the showers heavy in northern and western areas. Some of the showers may merge into longer periods of rain in Scotland, northern England and Wales. More scattered showers to the east and south with sunny spells here. Gales affect western coasts and hills. Temperatures at 17 to 22C.

Friday
Low pressure drifts to the northeast of Scotland on Friday. There will be sunny spells and showers, most in the north and west with some of them merging into longer spells of rain in Scotland. Eastern and southern areas tending to see fewer showers and some places may stay dry throughout. Breezy with highs at 14 to 23C.
