Next week is showing signs of conditions improving with higher pressure building to bring drier and brighter weather and turning warmer too.

Friday 18/8/17
Low pressure passes through Scotland on Friday. This brings some heavy rain into Scotland together with northern England at first. Gales here too. Heavy showers in Ireland and these affecting much of western and southern Scotland as well as northwest England as the rain clears. For much of the rest of England and Wales the day will be bright and breezy. There will be some showers, most of these in the south. A cool day at 12C in northern Scotland, but more widely 15 to 17C in western and northern areas, 22C in the brighter south and east.

Saturday 19/8/17
A ridge of high pressure builds through the UK and Ireland on Saturday. This is going to be bringing plenty of dry weather with good spells of sunshine. There is a risk of a shower in the north and esst although these tending to fade. Sunshine turns hazy in the west as cloud thickens and this brings rain into Ireland later. Highs near 22C in the south and east, 15 to 18C in the north and west.

Sunday 20/8/17
High pressure remains across southern and eastern England on Sunday. Fronts pass northeast through Ireland and Scotland bringing cloud and rain here. Windy in northern and western areas too. Mostly dry in Wales and western England with some sunny spells, although thicker cloud and a risk of patchy rain in the far northwest of England. Highs at 17 to 24C.

Monday 21/8/17
Low pressure to the north of Scotland on Monday as pressure increases across Ireland, England and Wales. There will be good spells of sunshine although cloud and showers affecting northern England and western Wales. Further showers and breezier weather in northern and western Scotland. Highs to 27C in eastern England, 19C in Scotland.

Tuesday 22/8/17
Pressure continues to build on Tuesday. The day is expected to be dry and bright for most with some good spells of warm sunshine. Thicker cloud and some showers affecting the north and west of Scotland as well as the far north of Ireland. Highs at 20 to 27C.

Wednesday 23/8/17
High pressure is expected to be over the UK and Ireland on Wednesday bringing good spell of sunshine to all. Highs at 20 to 28C.
