Improving towards the weekend but turning more unsettled next week

This week is likely to be rather mixed with low pressure bringing cloud and rain eastwards through many areas; less rain in the south. Higher pressure is likely to be building at towards the weekend and this is likely to bring a few days of drier weather before things turn thundery and more unsettled into next week.

Thursday 15/6/17
A more mixed day on Thursday with fronts passing east through all areas. These bring outbreaks of rain with them, most in the west of Wales, England and Scotland as well as much of Ireland. The southern third of England and southern Wales should be mostly dry, Lots of low cloud and fog on western coasts and hills too. Highs at 16 to 24C.


Friday 16/6/17
Highs to the south of Friday with low pressure to the north. The western flow brings generally cloudy and drizzly conditions to much of western Scotland, northwest England and the north and west of Ireland. It may be rather murky in northern wales too. Eastern and southern areas should be brighter and drier with the best sunshine in southern England. Warm for all at 17C in northern Scotland, 24C in southern England.


Saturday 17/6/17
High pressure is going to be centred just off southern Ireland on Saturday. There may still be low cloud and drizzle in western Scotland as well as the coasts of northwest England, Wales and western ireland. Elsewhere drier and brighter with sunny spells, the best of these in the south. Tops at 16C in northern Scotland, 26C in southern England.
 


Sunday 18/6/17
High pressure builds into southern England on Sunday. A weak front affects the north of Scotland bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain, some drizzle on western coasts of Scotland too. For the rest of the UK and Ireland it will be dry and bright with good spells of sunshine. Warm or very warm with tops at 17C in northern Scotland, 28C in southern England.


Monday 19/6/17
Pressure stays high across the country on Monday. There may be some low cloud over eastern coasts of Scotland and northeast England with the risk of some drizzle here. Other areas will be dry and bright with sunny spells, the best of them to the west. Highs near 25C in southwest England, 16C in the north of Scotland.

Tuesday 20/6/17
The area of high pressure clings on to much of the Uk through Tuesday. The best sun will be across much of eastern and southern England and Wales. More cloud in Ireland and western Scotland as well as western Wales and southwest England with rain here. Highs at 18 to 25C.
