Dry for many and becoming very warm, thundery showers early next week

Higher pressure building through the rest of this week and into the weekend bringing some good spells of sunshine and warm conditions. It could be very warm in the south of the UK. Next week stays dry with sunny spells, but a few thundery showers could break out on Monday afternoon. There's then a risk of some thundery showers in southern and western areas into the middle of the week before things turn more unsettled into the weekend.

Sunday 18/6/17
A weak from slips south through Scotland and Northern Ireland on Sunday. This brings patchy rain with it, most over western hills and coasts. Drier in eastern and southern Scotland. Most of England, Wales and Ireland should be dry with good spells of sunshine although some low cloud and fog affecting western coasts of Wales and southwest England at times. Highs at 20 to 28C.


Monday 19/6/17
A ridge of high pressure extends through the UK and Ireland on Monday. There will be some broken cloud but sunny spells too. Some thundery showers may develop later in the Midlands, eastern and southern England. Weak fronts affecting Scotland, Northern Ireland and the far north of England giving a few showery bursts of rain here. Top at a fresher 15C in Scotland and Ireland, 29C in southeast England.


Tuesday 20/6/17
High pressure is going to be off northeast Scotland on Tuesday. A fair day with sunny spells for many. The risk of some thundery showers affecting southwest England and southern and western ireland where the winds will be more brisk. Highs at 17 to 27C.

 
 
 


Wednesday 21/6/17
High pressure is expected off the east of England on Wednesday with low pressure to the west. There will be good spells of sunshine and mostly dry weather in the east. More western areas are likely to be dry too but there is a risk of thundery showers developing. Highs at 19C in the east, 26C in the southwest.


Thursday 22/6/17
High pressure stays to the east on Thursday with low pressure ot the west. A brisk southeast wind affects more western areas and this may lead to some thundery rain in Ireland and southwest England. Highs at 18 to 24C.

Friday 23/6/17
Lower pressure to the northwest of Scotland on Friday. This may push fronts eastwards during the day bringing some outbreaks of rain, some of them thundery. Highs at 17 to 23C.
