Mixed throughout and turning cooler next week

Mixed weather affecting all areas during the coming week. More southern and eastern areas are likely to see little rain. More northern parts of England, Ireland and much of Scotland are going to be cloudy and damp with periods of rain and strong winds at times. Next week shows signs of becoming chillier with showers, although it may turn wetter in southeastern parts of the UK towards the end of the forecast period.

Saturday 18/3/17
Low pressure north of the UK and Ireland on Saturday, low pressure to the south. It stays cloudy and breezy through much of Ireland, England, Wales and southern Scotland. Tending to become brighter in more sheltered eastern and southern areas. Scotland is likely to be brighter with sunny spells and some heavy showers here. Temperatures at 7C in northern Scotland, 13C in southern England.


Sunday 19/3/17
More cloud on Sunday with low pressure to the north of the country. A mostly cloudy southwest flow bringing drizzle and outbreaks of rain over western coasts and hills. More eastern and southern areas are likely to be drier with some bright spells in the east. Highs at 7 to 15C.
 


Monday 20/3/17
Low pressure dominates on Monday. This brings cloud and some rain in the west and north. Drier in more eastern and southern areas with the cloud breaking and sunny spells developing. Highs at 9 to 14C.

 
 
 


Tuesday 21/3/17
A front passes east on Tuesday enabling a cooler northwest flow to develop. The front brings a band of rain to all areas, although this clears to leave brighter conditions together with some showers in the north and west. Highs at 6 to 11C.


Wednesday 22/3/17
It may be dry for a time as a ridge of high pressure builds eastwards bringing sunny spells. Thicker cloud and some rain or showers may affect more western areas. Highs at 7 to 10C.

Thursday 23/3/17
Rain may continue to affect the east and south of England on Thursday with low pressure to the south. Higher pressure builds in more northern parts bringing drier conditions and sunny spells here. Highs at a chilly 9C in southern England, 12C in Scotland.
