Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Often breezy; quite cool north, some warmth south

Friday 09/06/17
Low pressure lies to the west, pushing a warm front into Ireland and later western Britain, where rain will set in during the afternoon and evening. Ahead of this, much of Britain sees a bright day with spells of sunshine. Risk of residual showers across eastern regions from a previous frontal system which will clear into the North Sea. A south to south-westerly breeze, freshening in the west. Highs 16 to 20C, warmest east.

Saturday 10/06/17
Low pressure centred over north-western Britain maintains a changeable pattern. A period of rain passes east and fades, followed by showers. Rain may persist much of the day for Scotland and northern England. Sunny spells developing from the west. A brisk south-westerly wind and feeling fresh, just 14 to 16C north, up to 18 to 21C south, perhaps locally warmer south-east.

Sunday 11/06/17
Another day of showery rain for northern Britain as low pressure drifts into the North Sea. These may merge into constant rain at times for the north-west, whilst showers should be more scattered further south. Some sunshine, best across the south & south-east, where much of the day stays dry. Breezy, west or northwesterly winds. Cool in the north at 13 to 16C, warmer in south 19 to 23C.

Monday 12/06/17
Pressure is expected to build from the south-west early next week, allowing things to settle down a little. Expect a mix of sunshine and scattered showers, these mainly in northern areas. Feeling fresh in west to north-westerly winds, 14 to 19C, warmest south.

Tuesday 13/06/17
High pressure likely to reside toward the south-west, bringing a bright day for many with a good deal of sunshine. Showers remain possible in the north & east, although well scattered. Highs 15 to 21C.

Wednesday 14/06/17
Little change, with high pressure to the west of Britain, and low pressure to the east. Sunny spells, but still a risk of some showers, mainly in the north & east. A fresh breeze in the east. Highs 16 to 21C.
