Mild to very warm, often windy

Much of this week is looking wet and often windy with gales. Monday Ex-Hurricane Ophelia affect Britain with gales developing. Strongest winds will run up through the Irish Sea affecting Northern Ireland and western coasts of gusts of 70-75 mph. The strong winds transfer into northern England and Scotland in the evening and nigh. Very mild temperatures to come but cooler across the north. Very warm for this time of year in the south through Monday.

Tuesday 17/10/17
Not quite as warm on Tuesday but temperatures remain above normal. Gales and rain persists across northern Scotland from Storm Ophelia to the north. Elsewhere a dry day to come with cloud and sunnier spells. Light rain may affect parts of the south overnight. Expect highs of 11 to 18C.


Wednesday 18/10/17
Windy with gales again up through the Irish Sea. Mild across England and Wales. An area of moderate to heavy rain sweeps across many areas. That rain lingers across Wales and central and southern parts of England overnight. Staying very windy and it turns colder across Scotland. Expect highs of 12 to 18C.
 


Thursday 19/10/17
Cooler for Thursday but above normal temperatures are expected in the south. Very windy with spells of rain and showers. Rain clears late in the day but persists across northern Scotland through the night. Look for highs of 10 to 17C.

 
 
 


Friday 20/10/17
Cooler and windy making it even colder. Showers to affect northern and western parts of Britain. Fair and dry in the south and east with sunnier spells. Rain may spread into most places in the night with gales in the west. Expect highs of 11 to 14C.

 
 
 


Saturday 21/10/17
Milder and very windy. Confidence is low at present but it may be a stormy day with a risk of strong gales across Britain. An area of heavy rain sweeps west to east, clearing to heavy showers from the west. Expect highs of 15 to 18C.

Sunday 22/10/17
Colder and staying very windy with an area of moderate to heavy rain across the north and the west spreading eastward through the day. Perhaps dry until evening in the south east. Look for highs of 11 to 14C.
