Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 22nd January 2025 Duty forecaster: Dan Graves
Rain in the southeast, patchy rains elsewhere. Quite calm winds in most places.
Good morning,
Slack low pressure around the Isles today. Several weak fronts are lingering around the southeast: expect morning and afternoon rain here and abundant clouds. Spotty rain elsewhere, particularly along west coasts of Britain and Ireland, though nothing substantial. Many will see brighter spells, particularly in eastern areas. Most areas will see highs of 4 to 6°C, though warmer in western Ireland, up to 8°C.
Winds will be light in most places. A chance of stronger breezes in the southwest increases into the evening as a stronger front approaches from the west. Steady rain, some heavy reaches Ireland overnight and patchy rain will increase in frequency over Britain.
Keep an eye on the forecast for Friday: Storm Eowyn has been named.
Enjoy the calm air today! -Dan
